"To Sleep, Perchance to Dream"

Here we are, at the beginning... a lovely place?... no.

So, okay. I had resolved not to go to a giant singles activity last night. The idea stressed me out. I went to the gym instead. The gym is always a good choice. It had been an extremely long day, all in all a very hard weekend with work stress, and I needed to work those emotions out on weights and not on the next person I would talk to. (Sorry for any of my stress backlash any of you felt over the weekend.) So, gym was over and I was feeling good again. My friend, Cortney calls and she is such a lovely person that I decided to play wing man for her at the previously mentioned daunting singles event. So we go. Walk around, chat... blah blah blah. Here it is... the story you are waiting for...
A man, we will call him Christian cause that was his name, grabbed my elbow pulling me away from the crowd. The following conversation takes place...

Christian: Hi, what is your name? (I am not wearing a name tag... name tags at singles events... a blog of its own).
Melissa: Melissa, what is yours?
Christian: It's on my name tag...
Melissa: (My head is reeling with the snarky things to say, but boys don't like snark.) Hi, Christian, nice to meet you. I guess you know I can read now... (I couldn't hold ALL the snark in.)
Christian: Well, let's get down to business... what do you do for entertainment?
Melissa: (At this point I made a mental note to REMEMBER everything this fellow was saying!) Well, let's see, I enjoy improv...
Christian: (Interrupts me) I like watching documentaries.
Melissa: (I can respect that.) Great, what was one of your favorites?
Christian: I watched a documentary on what your dreams mean, and now I can read dreams for people.
Melissa: (Noted: watching a documentary makes you a professional...check!) Well actually this is convenient, because I had a really odd dream last night that I have been thinking about all day.
Christian: Well, lay it on me.
Melissa: I was in my bedroom and thousands of tiny spiders emerged slightly tied to each other and they began climbing on top of one another until they created what looked like the exoskeleton of something alien-esque...
Christian: (Interrupts me) Well you should first know that dreams are simply a collection of your subconscious thoughts from the day.
Melissa: Yes, I have heard that. I am afraid of spiders and fascinated by aliens...
Christian: (Interrupts me...something I always enjoy) I had a dream once about my friends and I finding a space ship.....

I checked out... I didn't mean to be rude. I did listen far enough into it that I knew I would have probably enjoyed his dream. The fact that he dreamed of space ships and watched documentaries was a sign that we could probably be friends. The fault was that he clearly had no real intent of getting to know  me, or actually following through on telling me what my dream was about like he feigned skill set had implied. He just wanted to talk to someone I guess. Which I can understand. I pled to God to send someone to take me away from this one sided conversation...

AND THEN Jon and Chris walked up and totally interrupted the conversation asking me a question. I thought, "Great, please keep talking! Please ask me to walk away with you. My eyes stared at either of them to make eye contact with me so they would feel/see/understand my situation and as any good friend would do, get me out of there." At no fault of their own, neither of them looked at me while they talked, there was many a distraction and they were looking for something. Seconds later they left. (Again, I do NOT blame them for walking off, even Cortney didn't realize I needed saving.)

Christian continued. See, his friends were going to make his dream and make it into a movie....

I checked out again. I didn't mean to be rude. I was just overwhelmed. I wasn't ready for this. 20 minutes later he finished by saying something about how his friends decided to go with a Zombie movie instead. I said, "that sucks, it would have been a cool movie." I was fiddling with an empty water bottle and asked him if he knew where recycling was and I said it was good to meet him and walked off.

Thing is... I still don't know what my dream meant. Anyone?
And as a side note: Phone numbers were given away and dates set up. (Not with Christian) So the night was successful on some degree.
