Yesterday as I walked out of work, it was beautiful. It was a bit of pirate weather. Weather for adventuring. It was also beginning to sprinkle as I walked onto the Trax platform.
I couldn't help myself.
I started spinning.
Like a kid in the middle of a field.
Except for I was an old lady possibly getting hit by a train.
When I began, there were very few people around me and I thought they would probably think I was crazy, but whatever... I needed to spin.
When you start spinning, you are in full control. But the longer you spin, the more you have to focus on your balance. To keep your balance, professionals 'spot,' where you focus on one thing outside of your spin to keep your balance. But since I am not a professional spinner, I found myself completely ignoring everything around me and centering on myself. It was a really cool sensation. I was very aware of me and everything I was feeling. The rain, my heart, and my cold fingertips.
Then I slowed to a stop. I fully expected to smile and laugh because of people's looks, but when I looked up and around five strangers were spinning next to me. It was overwhelmingly sweet experience.
An old man.
Two young girls.
Two middle-aged women.
They stopped and we all smiled at each other, and then silently got on Trax.
Cool.
When was the last time you spun?
