For our one year anniversary we decided to go on the Catalina Ensenada cruise out of L.A. We drove out and got to spend some wonderful time visiting with the best friend, Mills and her T-dawg. It was absolutely lovely.
We took a lot of photos but this is my favorite of Ben checking out the room. What a cute butt.
We had so much fun with all the cruise games and enjoyed just relaxing and enjoying the views and hearing the crazy conversations from people. One woman in a hot tub near us was "explaining" Utah to the others. In case any of you weren't aware, it is considered "salt lake city" from Ogden through Provo. All of it is really just Salt Lake.
I bought this large sun hat, because when in Mexico one must have a large sun hat.
We took a food tour of Ensenada where the chef guided us through making our own pico de gallo and guacamole... we thought it would be a much more in depth cooking class but we enjoyed hacking at our tomatoes with a dull steak knife from the 60s. It was fun and yummy nevertheless.
Ben did NOT understand why I insisted on taking a moment to enjoy the folded towel animals as his habit was to toss them off the bed. It was the most hysterical thing as I tried to get his logical mind to appreciate the creativity... not happening... today. You can see his is thrilled about this forced photo. haha-- I adore him!
We went to the Hasbro game event and I got chosen to play on stage because I can scream and be more excited than anyone-- do you disagree? And I won a key-chain game which was silly but I had a blast.
See, I am much more thrilled. Look at the swan for goodness sake!
The best part of the whole trip was the scuba diving we did off shore of Catalina Island. Ben is certified and so I took a class before hand to see if I was going to be able to handle this as I have never even been snorkeling and I do not like things touching me under water. I prefer pools.
I loved every moment of scuba diving class. I raved about it for months. I was basically a freaking mermaid!
So, after the long exhausting effort that was putting on a wet suit-- holy crap-- we were ready to go. It was a shore entrance so we walked down the cement steps right into the ocean. The water was freezing and the shore was a bit raucous and everything was really freaking me out and I was having a hard time catching my breath but once I put my head under water I was able to calm my breathing and enjoy the whole thing.
It was remarkable. The sights and fish and plant life were beautiful and it was absolutely delightful to be under water like that.
Hands down the best part of the whole cruise, and my favorite adventure of the year!
Happy anniversary to us!
